On May 11, 2020, Paladin Risk Solutions Inc. (PRSI) received a letter of appreciation from the Canadian Forces Liaison Council. The letter was regarding Johan Norena, a PRSI team member who assists with our investigation services. In addition to being an incredible asset for PRSI, Johan also serves as a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reservist.
Joining the Canadian Armed Forces
In February of 2019, Johan joined the CAF because he wanted to obtain relevant experience for his future law enforcement career. As a CAF Reservist, Johan has been able to enhance the skills he has learned at PRSI and also acquire new ones. Johan also wanted to serve for the beautiful country of Canada, since immigrating here has provided many opportunities for both him and his family.
Operation LASER
As a fairly new CAF Reservist, Johan did not have the chance to be involved in previous emergencies. However, with the recent COVID-19 outbreak, he is now a part of Operation LASER.
Operation LASER is a response from the CAF to the pandemic situation in Canada. As a member of the force, Johan must be readily available 24/7 to assist the country when needed. Not only does this require Johan to be prepared at any moment, but it also requires an immense amount preparation and support from PRSI as well.
Canadian Forces Liaison Council’s Letter of Appreciation
Below is the letter PRSI received from the Canadian Forces Liaison Council for supporting Johan as a CAF Reservist. They also explain how this support is contributing towards the safety of all Canadians through Operation LASER.
This letter of appreciation is in regards to your support of, Pte Johan Norena who is a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reservist, and currently deployed in support of the national COVID-19 response, known by the CAF as Operation LASER. Pte Johan Norena is part of a larger deployment of approximately 24,000 full time CAF, CAF Reserve and Canadian Rangers personnel who stand ready to assist with the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to assist with mitigating the effects of spring flooding and summer wildfires.
Reservists, in addition to their civilian jobs, provide a key service to Canadians, particularly in times of emergency and train to be ready to respond to a call from the CAF to support operations at home or abroad. National or local operations are called Domestic Operations by the CAF and are in direct support to Canadians, our economy and our way of life. In much the same way that businesses are being asked to do all that they can to maintain the Canadian economy during this time, Reservists are also being asked to do all that they can.
I wish to conclude by emphasizing that in allowing Johan Norena to participate in this CAF operation dedicated to helping our citizens, Paladin Risk Solutions has also made a direct and unique contribution toward the well-being of our fellow Canadians – a contribution few of us may ever have the opportunity of making.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Canadian Armed Forces and your employee who is responding to this call-up of Reservists.
Regards,
Derral Moriyama
Chair, Canadian Forces Liaison Council, British Columbia
We are proud to support Johan Norena as a CAF Reservist and are honoured to have him a part of our team. This summer, Johan will be taking part in different types of training that are required to advance in his military careers and trade with the artillery. We have no doubt that his ongoing experience with PRSI and the CAF will provide him with the skills he needs to achieve his future law enforcement career.
At Paladin Risk Solutions, we currently employ other members of the Canadian Armed Forces and are always looking for more CAF members to join our team.
