Making the World a Safer and Friendlier Place
Paladin is a team filled with individuals who are of the highest calibre with the right combination of education, temperament and attitude. Everyday, our growing team of security professionals go above and beyond, as they are asked to manage situations that most would turn away from.
Our reason for being at Paladin Security is to make the world a safer and friendlier place. We are a team of individuals who are more than just men and women in a Security Officer uniform as our values follow us beyond our uniform. This was especially displayed in early July, 2018 by Paladin/PalAmerican Director of Investigations, Mike Lantz during a close call at a hotel in Calgary, Alberta.
While on vacation with his family, Mike helped save the lives of a man and a pre-teen boy who were drowning in a hotel swimming pool. The adult male couldn’t swim and waded into the deep end and that’s when the 12-year-old jumped in to try and help. It took Mike a moment to realize that the pair was in trouble as neither one of them were yelling for help and it appeared as though they were playing around.
I decided to jump in and pull one person onto the pool deck. Then somebody screamed and said there was another person at the bottom of the pool, so I quickly dove back in to pull that person out. I knew that I had to act quickly and I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time,” Mike explains.
While there were people who assisted him, more than a dozen staff and guests stood and watched the scene unfold not seeming to know what to do. The adult regained consciousness on the deck of the pool. By the time emergency crews arrived, the pair was already pulled to safety and confirmed the two patients neither required transport to hospital.
Mike exemplified the Paladin Difference through his awareness on managing the situation effectively and, ultimately prevented any casualties. We are so proud of you Mike!
